United Way Cancels 5K

United Way of Southwest Wyoming announced Wednesday that the 2nd Annual United Way Running for Reading 5K set for Oct. 1 has been cancelled.

“Because of the number of 5K’s in our community, United Way felt that it was best to take a step back and not take away from the other events. We hope that people wanting to participate in our event will participate in either the Sweetwater One Public School Foundation 5K on Sept. 17 or the 5K Benefit for Matt Beardsley set for Oct. 8,” said Suzanne Zutter Executive Director at United Way.

Zutter stated that the Running for Reading 5K was created to benefit Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Southwest Wyoming and that United Way continues to write grants to fund this program and is exploring other funding options.
